Treasure Island to host SF Dragon Boat Festival
The 2012 Kaiser Permanente San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival will be September 15-16, 2012 at Treasure Island. Festival Hours are 10 am to 5 pm and Racing is from 8 am to 5 pm on both days. For those unfamiliar with the sport, dragon boating is a boat of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steers person paddling to cross the finish faster than their competition. It's a team sport in its purest form that encompasses the elements of power, speed, synchronization and endurance. The San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival also features food and drink, vendors, family activities and live entertainment. Admission is free. On-Island parking is available, but carpooling, use of the MUNI 108-Treasure Island and use of free shuttles available from San Francisco are all highly encouraged.
