SF DCYF Community Hub Opening at Treasure Island YMCA

Enrollment Now Open

In collaboration with the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF), the YMCA will be launching a Community Hub starting September 14th for Treasure Island students. The first phase of enrollment will support youth K-6th . Based on capacity and the number of cohorts available at each Hub location, space is limited and we can only enroll youth based on criteria outlined by DCYF and family eligibility.

Please see below for more information on how to get your child signed up for the DCYF Community Hub at the Treasure Island YMCA.

Step One:

• Each youth will have a code that will be unique to their application. In order to receive this code, families should connect directly with the YMCA to either apply online or complete a paper application. Qualified families will receive their individual registration code to confirm and submit their application

Step Two:

• Applications will be reviewed and checked by DCYF. During the registration and enrollment period for phase 1 (August 24th-Sept. 11th),DCYF will process applications and send out acceptance notifications on a weekly basis. Families will have a week to return a signed acceptance letter.

o Within the acceptance notification families will receive: a copy of the health & safety protocols and procedures, and site assignment Unless otherwise requested, all qualified families living on the Island will be placed at the Island Hub.

Step Three:

• Upon receipt of the acceptance notifications DCYF officials will enroll the youth and notify the CBO’s with an updated roster. The YMCA will contact each family to reconfirm enrollment.

The YMCA staff will be available to take calls and support getting families application to DCYF Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm.

  • What are the hours of the Treasure Island Community Learning Hub?
    The Learning Hub will operate from 8:30am – 5:30 pm everyday

  • Will Lunch be provided?
    Starting on Sept. 14th, provided through DCYF, the learning hubs will be serving Breakfast, Lunch and Snack each day to all enrolled participants.

  • What if I do not have a computer for my student?
    If you do not have computer, the YMCA and DCYF have secured Chromebook’s and hotspots for all participants to access during program hours.

  • What if I am not a current program participant of the YMCA?
    You do not need to have prior affiliation with the YMCA to attend the learning hub. All enrollment is being managed through DCYF with Treasure Island Youth being the focus for enrollment

  • How many spots can you currently serve?
    We are starting out with enrolling 36 youth for the phase of cohorts, with the intention to expand by mid-october.

  • What is a typical schedule for the Community Learning Hub

    8:30 – 8:50 – check-in/Breakfast
    9:00 – 12:00 – Academics
    12:00 – 12:35 – Lunch
    12:40 – 2:30 – Academics
    2:30 – 5:30 – Enrichments and activities

  • What if I need help completing the application?
    The YMCA is here to support you in either enrolling online or completing a paper application. Staff are ready and available Monday –Friday between the hours of 8:30 and 5:30 to support
